Whose permits Arizona honors

Arizona recognizes valid concealed-carry permits from every US state and DC.

A.R.S. § 13-3112(Q): Arizona recognizes any other state's permit if it is valid in the issuing state and the holder is legally present and not prohibited — no resident-only condition, so non-resident permits qualify. But out-of-state permit holders under 21 may not carry concealed in Arizona (§ 13-3112(S)).

Can you carry in Arizona without a permit?

Arizona allows permitless concealed carry from age 21 for people who may legally possess a handgun, including eligible visitors.

Permitless concealed carry for anyone 21+ not prohibited from possessing firearms (A.R.S. § 13-3102 criminalizes concealed carry only under 21, subject to exceptions); in effect since July 29, 2010.

Is Arizona an open carry state?

Yes. Arizona allows open carry of a handgun without a permit from age 18 for people who may legally possess one.

Adults who may legally possess a firearm can carry openly without a permit. People under 18 may not carry a firearm in public unless accompanied by a parent, guardian or certified instructor.

Do you have to tell police you are carrying in Arizona?

No proactive duty, but if an officer asks whether you are carrying a concealed deadly weapon you must answer accurately (A.R.S. § 13-3102(A)(1)(b)); permit holders must present the permit for inspection on request (§ 13-3112(A), civil penalty up to $300).
