Can you carry in Kansas without a permit?

Kansas allows permitless concealed carry from age 21 for people who may legally possess a handgun, including eligible visitors.

Permitless concealed carry since July 1, 2015. K.S.A. 21-6302 criminalizes concealed handgun carry only for persons under 21; 18-20-year-olds may carry concealed only with a Kansas provisional license (K.S.A. 75-7c03) or a valid license/permit issued by another jurisdiction.

Is Kansas an open carry state?

Yes. Kansas allows open carry of a handgun without a permit from age 18 for people who may legally possess one.

Kansas has no license for open carry, and adults may carry a handgun openly without one. Concealed carry without a license starts at 21; people 18 to 20 may carry openly.

How to get a Kansas concealed carry permit

Apply to: Sheriff of your county of residence, who forwards the application to the Kansas Attorney General (Kansas residents only)
