Is a Wisconsin Non-Resident Permit Valid in Alaska?

No such permit issuedVerified 2026-08-08

This permit doesn't exist. Wisconsin does not issue carry permits to non-residents (issued only to Wisconsin residents (valid WI driver's license or ID required) or active-duty military stationed in Wisconsin (WI DOJ CCW FAQ)), so there is no "Wisconsin non-resident permit" to carry in Alaska or anywhere else.

Why

Under AS 18.65.748 a person holding a valid permit from another state is treated as an Alaska permittee (no resident-only condition); in practice recognition matters little because anyone 21+ who may legally possess may carry permitless. Under-21 carriers are NOT covered even with an out-of-state permit.
