Is a New Jersey Non-Resident Permit Valid in Nevada?

Not recognizedVerified 2026-08-08

No. Nevada does not honor New Jersey non-resident permits, and it has no permitless-carry option for visitors. Carrying a concealed handgun there on your State of New Jersey Permit to Carry a Handgun (PTC) is a crime.

Why

Official DPS list effective July 1, 2025 (28 states); neither NRS 202.3688 nor the list imposes an issuing-state residency condition. A permit holder who becomes a Nevada resident loses reciprocity 60 days after establishing residency unless issued a Nevada permit (NRS 202.3688(2)).
